Our verdict
CD Projekt suits players who want a studio's own games bought direct from the developer, with the company behind the store working since 2002.

Pros and cons
Pros
- Buying is a one time purchase, so the whole cost sits in a payment up front instead of a recurring bill.
- The seller is CD PROJEKT RED S.A., the studio that made the games, so the developer and the shop are the same company.
- Support runs through the studio itself, which has been at work since 2002.
- Console, handheld, PC and phone buyers are all covered by the same developer, and every sale is backed by CD PROJEKT RED S.A.
Cons
- Its own releases sit in RPG and card, so players who want other genres have to shop elsewhere.
- Because CD PROJEKT RED S.A. develops and sells the titles, the price comes from the publisher itself and no rival's discount sits beside it.
- Buying is a one time purchase, so a household hoping for a shared subscription has nothing to split here.
- Everything sold is handled by CD PROJEKT RED S.A., so no separate merchant sits between you and the studio if a title fails to download.
Who it suits
- Players who want the studio's own role-playing and card games and prefer buying from the developer.
- Anyone on a console, a handheld, a PC or a phone who wants one studio's work across devices.
- Players who would rather pay once for a game than hold a subscription.
Who should look elsewhere
- Shoppers after a wide spread of genres, because the studio's releases stay in role-playing and card games.
- Players who want a subscription or family plan to share, since buying is a one time purchase.
- Buyers who want several sellers quoting the same title, because CD PROJEKT RED S.A. both develops and sells the releases it lists.
The company behind it
It writes its titles and publishes them, so the studio that made a game is the company a buyer deals with. Support runs on email, phone, help centre and community, so a question about a title reaches the team that wrote it, and a buyer dealing with a problem is dealing with the publisher rather than a party standing in front of it.

Frequently asked questions
Which platforms do CD Projekt games run on?+
The releases are built for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, among others, so console, handheld, PC and phone buyers are all served by the same studio. Its best-known role-playing title runs across console and PC, while GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is listed for PC and mobile. Check the platform list on a game's page before you commit to a version.
What kinds of games does CD Projekt sell?+
The card side runs through GWENT: The Witcher Card Game, while Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales leads the role-playing titles.
Who am I actually buying from?+
That matters when something goes wrong, because the party holding your money and the party that made the game are the same company, and the titles in the store are the studio's own publishing output rather than a resale shelf.
What support is there if a game will not launch?+
Questions go by email or by phone, and a help centre covers step-by-step fixes, so a player stuck on a launch or a patch is talking to the developer that wrote the game.
Is this the developer's own store or a reseller?+
Both, in a way that favours the studio. The store lists the developer's own releases and is also set up as an authorised reseller, so approved titles from elsewhere can appear alongside them.
How long has the company behind these games been working?+
Development began in 2002, so the games on sale come from a studio with a long run of releases behind it rather than a new arrival.
